Third Estate Art's "Birds Project" project aims to catalogue and remember people who have died by gun violence. Each stuffed pigeon carries the name of one person. Some were school kids, some were at the movies, some were pulled over by the cops, and some were walking in their neighborhoods.

Pigeons in progress, getting ready for their April 15 debut.

Late on April 15, the first round of birds was installed in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. If you see a bird you like, feel free to grab it and take it home. You can search our site for the specific name of that person and read more about them. In a week, we'll go around and collect all the leftovers so they don't end up as litter.

Because gun violence is a problem that seems like it will never end, this will be an ongoing project. We ultimately hope to complete many more installations and will hold pigeon-making workshops so you can help us out. In the meantime, please use our contact form below if you'd like us to include a name that is important to you.
