CICERO//MT GREENWOOD (1966/2016) by Ben Creech

Content warning: The video below contains strobing lights, as well as images of violence and white terrorism.

a reconstruction of a race riot or, which side are you on? A fragmented portrait of the cop neighborhood in Chicago on the eve of Trumps election. footage of CICERO MARCH provided courtesy of Chicago Film Archives (www.chicagofilmarchives.org)

From the artist: Mount Greenwood is “a sundown neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, where most of the residents are current/former police and other city workers. I did this as a kind of remix of a film from the 60s called Cicero March (also an all white Chicago extremity), but the expanded project will look more like citizen forensics and desktop documentary.”
